The Alice was a contemporary art space in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood, active from 2014 to 2019. Co-founded by Julie Alexander and Julia Freeman, it was run by a curatorial collective of artists, writers, and makers. The space presented new work and experimental projects by Pacific Northwest, national, and international artists, alongside a robust writing program that supported critical, creative, and experimental texts.

The Alice centered marginalized artists and makers whose practices pushed the limits of political engagement, racial consciousness, and queer inclusivity, often with a distinctly punk attitude. It functioned as a site for community, dialogue, and alternative modes of production, grounded in the belief that creative practice has the power to imagine and build more just futures. The space closed in 2019, leaving behind a legacy rooted in collaboration, risk-taking, and collective care.
